Religious Gifts for Children
Many families have strong religious foundations, and some unique gifts children will cherish for life center around their faith. A strong religious background can help a child through some of the tougher ordeals of life and give them stability. When they receive a unique gift, children tend to treasure it more, especially if it came from a special family member or friend.
Baptism
Some churches baptize children as infants, and invited guests should bring a baptism gift to symbolize their good wishes for the start of the baby’s religious journey. One appropriate gift for the newly baptized child is baby jewelry. A sterling silver pendant of a cross or guardian angel is a special keepsake to mark their baptism day. Other ideas for unique gifts are baby rosaries in special keepsake boxes, baptism teddy bears, or a baby’s first Bible complete with colored pictures of beloved stories.
For other children whose churches baptize them at an older age, or for newly converted children, a plaque with a sweet religious saying or prayer is appropriate. Because it can hang in their bedroom, this unique gift can remind children that God is always with them. Another wonderful gift is scriptures of their very own, with their name stamped in gold foil on the front.
Christening
Many churches also perform christenings for babies. The unique gifts children receive at a christening should reflect the innocence and purity of occasion. Appropriate gifts are an embroidered white dress or bonnet, a heart locket, children’s prayer book, or plaques with special blessings or prayers printed on them.
Communion
Communion is a special time to give unique gifts that children especially appreciate for their religious significance. Communion dolls dressed in white are popular for girls, as are a personalized handkerchief, and jewelry. Other wonderful communion gifts are children’s Bibles, wall crosses, keepsake boxes, rosary cases, or a keepsake pillow with the child’s name and communion date stitched on it.
